nyc – hilfiger / letterman / ink :::

Posted 07 Sep 2008 in Music,News,Photo Post,Press,Travel

If I wait to find time to write the second half of this post before blogging anything about the US tour I’m on at the moment I’ll be waiting a long time, so to hell with chronology and hello to blogging as and when I get the time.

NYC is always a blur (in a good way), and this time was no exception. Three days, one radio show, one gig and one Letterman. I feel I should shout about the last one. I WAS ON THE DAVID LETTERMAN SHOW! I’ve done a lot of TV shows and all have been fun, but there was a little something extra special about this one, not least because we were lucky enough to have been kitted out in some gorgeous Tommy Hilfiger duds for the occasion. We were shown round the warehouse by Andy Hilfiger himself, who is without doubt the most warm and generous man I’ve had the pleasure to meet. It’s a magical place and it was a great way to spend the morning before heading off to the Letterman studio.

Big thanks also to the fabulous Paul Schaffer and his lovely band, who were friendly, welcoming and marvellous fun to watch. Shaking hands with the man who played for Peter Gabriel back in the day – the lovely Sid McGinnis – was another highlight of the day.

I decided to round things off with a little trip to Daredevil Tattoo in the East Village for a tattoo or three with the beautiful Amanda Wachob. Apparently I’m a “super badass” for getting three new ones in three different places in the same sitting and a retouch on my art nouveau butterfly woman piece. It was a fun way to spend a couple of hours, everyone’s so friendly there and I even got to meet famous owner and tattoo artist extraordinaire Michelle Myles and got a photo with both lovely ladies before I tottered off back to the hotel, stopping off for raspberry sorbet and pretzels.

Oh, and you want to see what I had? Here they are:

Those lovely tattoo girls even blogged about my visit, check it out here, and thanks to Michelle for taking this awesome photo:

New York, I love you – I’ll be back soon!

    Hi ladies! Annie, the wrist tattoos mean ‘focus’ (left) and ‘perspective’ (right) and the neck tattoo means ‘warrior’. I love them all!

    Stacee, thanks so much for writing in, it was lovely to meet you too and I’ll be in touch, I still have your email address.
