20K to go zzzzzz :::
After really applying myself tonight I’m now only 20,000 words off my 50,000 word target for NaNoWriMo. I’m not giving up, by any means, but I think it’s pretty safe to say I won’t be a NaNo winner this year. I’m definitely going to try and get there tomorrow (I’m far too sleepy now), but it has to be around the gig I’m playing at Brixton Jamm and various work things that need to be done urgently. Real life gets in the way, doesn’t it! At least I’m not ill again…
I’m hopeful I can get quite a lot closer to the target tomorrow, but if I don’t reach 50K by midnight I won’t be too upset. Yes, it would be fun to be able to tell people I wrote a novel in 30 days flat, but I already know I don’t want anyone to read the (not inconsiderable amount of) words I’ve written…yet. I love the concept I’ve come up with; I think it’s got great potential and I would never have created it if it hadn’t been for this crazy challenge forcing me to find something to write about, but even as I sit in my studio nodding off over the laptop, I look forward to starting again, picking out the good bits from my splurge of November words and shaping them in to something of far better quality.
And that’s when you get to have a peek.

You know, if you’ve got a good idea, go for it. NaNoWriMo is fun and it’s nice to win, but it’s the idea that really counts. You’ve sat down and written almost 30,000 works – have fun going through it and picking the good stuff out!
I thought I had a good idea but didn’t think it completely through enough and now most of my novel is sh!t. It’s all about the rewrite!
Hope you try again next year!!

Thanks for commenting Kari, I definitely feel good about writing so much and am really happy I like my story. January is all about the rewrite, I reckon
