25 things about me :::

Posted 03 Feb 2009 in Ramblings

Damn you Jess McCabe. I’ve been dodging these memes for ages and now you’ve gone and tagged me with a biggy. Oh well, I suppose as you’ve gone and shared it’s the least I can do to take part too…

TAG RULES

Once you have been tagged, you are supposed to write a note with 25 random things about yourself. At the end, choose 25 people to be tagged. You have to tag the one who tagged you to begin with. If I tagged you it is because I want to know more about you.

(To do this, go to “notes” under your profile page, paste these instructions in the body of … Read Morethe note, type your 25 random things, tag 25 people (in the right hand corner of the app) then click post.)

1. I’m amazingly messy, but only in two places in my house: the table containing my recording equipment (I pile stuff on top) and the corner of my bedroom (I chuck clothes on the floor).

2. I do not like Little Boots but I’d like to nick her Tenori-on (it’s an instrument).

3. I was in a recorder quartet at primary school. We met up at breaktimes and rocked the classroom.

4. I’m trying to stop biting my nails at the moment but it’s not going very well.

5. I totally forgot I’d put a document in the scanner about an hour ago but have just now pressed the button.

6. This is because of my penchant for prolonged procrastination. I am trying to cure this affliction.

7. I like being vegan but this afternoon I got a craving for Cadburys Creme Eggs. I am only human.

8. I have six tattoos and plans for more.

9. My first tattoo was a silhouette of a Bond girl done in Bury St Edmunds when I was 17 – naughty!

10. It still pisses me off when people ask if it’s a Charlie’s Angel – why would I have *one* Charlie’s Angel on my shoulder?!

11. My second tattoo was done in 2002ish and is a seven-pointed Venus star on my lower back. My favourite mystical description says the seven points refers to the seven directions: North, South, East, West, above, below and within. I want to incorporate that in to some lyrics soon.

12. My third tattoo is my favourite one – it’s an art deco-style butterfly with a lady inside it. I love how ornate it is and am proud that I came up with the design – though give full credit to the wonderful Kanae at Evil to the Needle in Camden who had the artistic skill to actually draw it.

13. My last three tattoos were done together last September when I was on tour in New York. They’re Japanese symbols depicting ‘Focus’, ‘Perspective’ and ‘Warrior’, and after I got them done I treated myself to a big bag of pretzels and a tub of raspberry sorbet from the brilliant deli near the hotel.

14. I spent the day leading up to having the tattoos done in the David Letterman studio playing tunes.

15. David Letterman has big dry hands.

16. That last thing wasn’t really a random thing about me, but it is a random thing I remember about David Letterman.

17. I have 9 piercings: 2 belly button, 1 nose, 1 left earlobe, 2 right earlobe, 2 right top-of-ear, 1 right tragus.

18. I really want to get my lip pierced but keep psyching myself out of it by imagining how much it’s going to hurt. I need to get over it – it’ll only be super sore for a few days!!

19. I very nearly moved to Brighton on two separate occasions last year and still feel a pull towards the sea.

20. The instruments I wanted to learn when I was a kid are the piano and the cello.

21. The instruments I was allowed to learn at school were the violin and the saxophone (and the recorder, if we’re counting that too).

22. Until last year I was under the impression that my melodica was called a “blow piano”, because that’s what my parents told me it was called when I was small.

23. My parents also gave my sister and I a real stuffed fox shrug thingemmy to play with when we were little, saying it was just a toy. We used to kiss it on its little mouth :(

24. One of the things that delights me most about having a dog is watching him walk up little pathways off the lead. Like he’s just wandering about the place and can handle himself without my help. I would give *anything* to know what he’s thinking.

25. I’m wondering who will actually respond to this meme from the people I pick, and am hoping all of you do – I’m surprised at how quickly I managed it and how enjoyable it’s been so thank you Jess!

I ended up getting drawn into the ’25 things’ downward spiral as well. Nver mind, we’ll all be better informed as a result. Yours is the first I’ve read (and I’ve read a few) which mentions David Letterman.

Oh I am going to check yours out too then. I found your blog post on the white dog poo most informative – I’ve been wondering where that all went!

    Thanks for reading :)
