yes i am recording an ep :::

Posted 19 Mar 2009 in Music,Photo Post,Ramblings,She Makes War

The EP recording is finally underway, and to prevent myself from becoming paralysed with indecision over what songs to record I’ve been taking the “just get on with it” approach, which seems to be working quite well so far.

Today was brilliant because I managed to finish off the arrangement for Slow Puncture, a song I started writing in my head on long bicycle journeys at the start of last summer. It’s not actually about bicycles – at least I don’t think it is. Anyway, it has a start, a middle and an end now and I started adding extra little guitar parts this afternoon. Words to come next.

Also in progress are:

Picture of Us – surprisingly upbeat bereftness
Chicken (Shit) – one of my 20 Song Game tunes, but it’s causing me a few problems in the re-record: the middle section is all wrong and the beats are wonky, but not in a good way! I am making progress on this one slowly.
Glitterball – another 20 Song Game one, all crunchy weirdness and far-away vocals

After they’re done I have four or five others to have a look at, two which are currently incomplete, one which should be pretty straightforward and a couple of oldies I might like to haul in to the future with me. Not sure about those yet.

I started putting a vBlog episode together for this week based around the fact that Tuesday marked one whole year since Benji came to live with me, but I gathered together way too much footage then realised that sort of video is really only of great interest to one person in this world – me. So hold your horses til next week and I’ll think up something a bit more inclusive.

In the meantime I’ve started using 12seconds again – I started last year but ran out of steam early on. I’m going to post mini clips of me recording and exclaiming and dancing and holding Benji up and whatever else, here’s the link.
