Ghosts & Shadows – She Makes War Music, ramblings and recommendations

red roar, redroche and montreal! :::

This is an in-transit blogging test. I'm tapping away on my iPhone in a car on the way to a function band gig on Chichester, swaying as James the pilot negotiates bends in the motorway but not making too many mistakes to correct later I hope.

Phone blogging could make things a bit more lively on Ghosts & Shadows, for instance now I can tell you about my solo gig at the Red Roar Festival last night - I was asked along to open up the combined Genin Records / Orange & Blue Music special bill for the weekend, consisting of artists those two wonderful collectives work with or just enjoy. It was a pretty big deal to me that they wanted me to be a part of it all, and it was great to get a chance to road test my newest song, "Let This Be", complete wih screamy looping. The battle ukulele got another outing for "Scared To Capsize" too. It was a fun night so big thanks to Genin and O&B for the invite.

Red Roar Festival is on all weekend at the Red Lion in Gravesend, with more than 100 bands set to play - go check out some excellent independent music!

The rest of this week has seen me working hard to finish a pile of video, writing and photo work before I set off for Montreal on Monday. I'm going out there to shoot a video for my Redroche collaboration track "Give U More", and I'm very excited to finally meet the guys, see a great new city and be the lead in my second ever music video (third if you count the one I made for "Eye Spy" in January). Did you know Montreal has the largest underground city in the world? Their winters are killer, I hear.

How's everyone else doing?

  1. Have fun in Montreal (my hometown)! Don’t forget to try the bagels — you can’t get them like that anywhere else.

Which iPhone blogging app are you using? WordPress for iPhone? I’ve tried it but never actually used it to post… always just save drafts and then fix them up in the computer.

  2. Hi Francine, you’re the second person to mention bagels to me so I’ll definitely check them out :)

I’m using Blogpress actually, I couldn’t get the WordPress app to work which was pretty annoying! I think there was a glitch in the logging in bit. I like Blogpress though it’s a bit crap not to be able to add links until later on when you’re back at your computer…
