“Phoning It In” for B-Side Magazine
“FB is only good for bands because people spend time there. Where you put your music is irrelevant if your music isn’t the truest it can possibly be. Then you stick it on the internet, try not to spam people and work to engage and build an audience. That’s the easy part! It’s easy to get blinded by all the sites and tools that are available for musicians now, but you have to narrow it all down to what will work for you and what you will actually use. Twitter isn’t the answer to getting your music out there; it’s what you’re saying that’s important.”

“She’s at her best on recent single In This Boat, with its hints of Laura Veirs and Liz Phair.”
“Kidd’s passions brood and simmer with vigor, but they never bubble over in a messy fashion. Her songs ripple with anger, angst, and sociopolitical commentary, but she strays far from clichés and bloated polemics. The key result of crafting a one-person band (with friends as occasional contributors) lies in how these taut arrangements leave very little room for excess of bombast in her presentation – call it an effective use of negative space…she’s an artist seeking to make sense of the messed-up world in which we all live using the only tools she has available: her lovely voice, her penchant for dark pop tunes, and her ambition.”
“This girl is for real. ONE TO WATCH.”
“Whilst Kidd’s versatile, beautifully toned voice keeps the record sounding English to the bone, the loose conceptual feel, combined with its emotional and tonal aspects, make Little Battles sound like the heavily edited, stripped-down, good-natured, mature little sister of The Smashing Pumpkins’ Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness.”
“an imaginative, atmospheric and well-crafted album by an extremely talented singer/songwriter/ multi-instrumentalist…if you are tired of the current crop of female pop divas, you would be well-advised to give this album a listen because it is bursting with fresh ideas”.

“last night’s She Makes War album launch was a spectacular return…Playing tracks from debut Disarm as well as the newbie, the Olympians applied themselves in grand style. I particularly liked the songs featuring the dual violins, or duelling fiddles, as I called them. There was something magical about the way the two women flanked Kidd as she sang, almost like stringed guardian angels…closer “Scared to Capsize”…ended up in a surprising and delightful singalong, as Kidd stalked the stage with her megaphone and then did a turn through the audience, before returning to the stage to take her bow”.
