Blog : Out now – She Makes War “And Peace”

Greetings from Southwark Travelodge, where I am typing against time, trying to use my 30 minutes of free WiFi to its fullest by letting you know that my final She Makes War album “And Peace” is out now!

In these tumultuous times, it would be easy to feel completely powerless, but one thing I can do is create musical moments – and I’m really proud of this one.

You can stream all eight tracks in full, buy digital downloads, limited edition CDs, hardback lyric books featuring all published SMW songs plus promo photos throughout the decade PLUS “And Peace” tees direct from me. I’m running low on everything due to a rush on pre-orders so take a look now if you can.

The songs were chosen from YOUR online votes – I sneakily asked you what your top three SMW songs were, counted them up and set to work, recording stripped back, intimate versions of the top tracks at The Launchpad and sending them off to be beautifully mixed by Steve Kilpatrick. Before moving on to new pastures, I wanted to create this collection to honour the people who have been a massive part of this whole project – YOU.

I’ve been playing some of these songs live for a long time now, and having got to know them back to front and inside out over the 571 gigs I’ve played under the SMW name, it was fun to create these new versions. I hope you enjoy listening.

Sending love on this dark night,
Laura xxx

Thanks for this; just ordered the CD and am hoping its a turning point in a day which, before 7.30 has already delivered 3 things aimed at breaking me. The GE result is a blow, our new car seems completely foreign (I mean it is, but.. ) and undrivable, and my preferred coffee outlet is closed due to a leak!!
First world problems all, but I was close to tears until the salve of And Peace.
Lots of love and hope for the future

Genuinely very appreciated having this drop into my inbox on Friday morning – nice to actually retain a sense of hope after the previous nights shock.

And loving the new versions of old classics (does this count as a greatest hits compilation)? Scared To Capsize really sounds extra special.
